Summer Camp

I remember going to YMCA day camp as a kid during one summer in the 80′s. While I love the idea of summer camps and generally had a great time there was one summer I hated the camp. Now, I am going to share something with you at my expense. You will laugh and feel guilty for laughing at me but its ok. I am laughing at the experience as I write this.
This one particular day at the camp we were getting ready in the locker room for some time in the pool. It was going to be awesome. Let me stress the… “it WAS” because a few guys in the locker room decided to choose me to pick on that day. As I was changing they grabbed my bathing suit and flushed it down the toilet!
I could picture the swrils of orange and blue fabric now spinning down into the white bowl normally used for human waste. But not that day. The bowl was used that day to rob the joy of the pool at the YMCA camp from a little boy.
Why can’t all camps be like the one in the NY Times recently – EXPLOSIVES CAMP… now that would be a really cool summer camp. Sign me up!
