When Things Get Tough

Today I was playing with my son and we were having some fun when he woke up from his nap. Every once in a while he wakes up a little grumpy these days because he is pushing his molars through. When I grab him in those moments I love trying to cheer him up.
I picked him up this afternoon after his nap and it was definitely a grumpy moment. If you have a toddler I am sure you are familiar with these type of “terrible two” moments. I began to do one of my special daddy tricks, the super duper spin! He brightened up right away and began to smile and giggle. Of course, I just loved it.
During our little time of fun I noticed something subtle. I would spin, and Michael would pull in close. Then (as I spun faster) when he felt like we were spinning out of control he would grab on really tight with his little hands.
It reminded me of something important. When we feel like things are getting difficult we need to keep God close. Even if life seems to be spinning out of control we need to know He is holding on to us and it is ok for us to hold onto him tighter too.
