Family Time In Amish Country
Posted on 11. Jun, 2008 by frank in family
My brother Dave came for a visit with his girlfriend and it was great to see him and hang out bit. Our first stop was the Shady Maple Smorgasbord for lunch and it was great. I haven’t seen anywhere else where you can get a dining experience with a buffet that is over 200 ft long!
After a great lunch we headed over to Lancaster for an Amish experience at The Amish Village. They took us on a tour through a historic Amish house built in 1840. It was interesting going through each room and learning about the simple life that the Amish people live.
Of course Michael had a great time with Uncle Dave because he is the silliest of the three brothers. Michael couldn’t stop giggling as we watched Dave goofing off with the Amish buggy in the picture below.
So of course Michael had to try to do the same as Uncle Dave. As soon as Dave finished, Michael dashed over to the buggy and attempted to pull them along. It was hilarious seeing the little guy trying to be just like his uncle.
I will be sad to see Dave go back to California. I wish we could have spent more time together and it was nice to get to know his girlfriend, Melissa, a bit. Family, food, and fun always make for a great day and I hope I get to see Dave again soon.

Looks like you had a blast. It stinks sometimes having family spread out so far around the world (I feel your pain). But (hopefully) it makes the times together more special.
