Guilty Prayers – Lindsay Spengler Interview
I’m not sure why, but for whatever reason, many Christians feel like they are not allowed to pray for what they want. Asking God to expand our financial resources is off limits. Praying for our own personal gain… out of the question. Since when did prayer come with so many rules attached to it? In the sermon video below I dive into this issue and also interview my friend Lindsay Spengler. Lindsay has struggled with a condition called RSD for almost 10 years. I first posted about Lindsay when I interviewed her for a sermon I on the topic of suffering (you can read that post here). When I first met her she was in tremendous pain, stuck in bed and unable to even eat for FIVE YEARS, but God changed her life and answered her prayers. I agree that people don’t pray for what they want, but you have to match your prayers with personal action towards the goal of what you want. God hears us, but wants us to do some work. We can pray for a better paying job, but if we don’t apply for one, or we don’t further our education, the job’s not going to just magically appear.
