25 Things I Hate About Facebook

Ok, so most of my recent posts have revolved around the things I love about social media. How facebook, twitter and other platforms can help us engage our culture in conversation more effectively and enhance the relationships we have with others. However, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t some things about social media that are COMPLETLY ANNOYING… Check out this video of Julian Smith and the 25 things he hates about facebook, I just happen to completely agree:

What’s Your Favorite Blackberry App?

Here is a quick list of my favorite Blackberry applications and what I use them for (just in case you are new to the BB world).

In no particular order:

Opera Mini- by far the best web browser I’ve tried. As you can see from the pic below it allows you to see a true web page and then zoom on the portion you want to read or examine closely.

Facebook- a quick easy application that I use mostly to check my facebook messages and upload mobile photos. For all other facebook stuff, while on the go, I actually go to facebook on the Opera Mini browser.

Pandora - when I’m not using my Zune and open to hearing new music I simply stick headphones in my Blackberry and use Pandora. Based upon my ratings of songs Pandora chooses new music for me to listen to, and I love it.

Google Maps – When my wife has the GPS unit and I need to know where to go… Google Maps and my blackberry get me there!

Livestrong – easy to use calorie tracker.

Vlingo – great tool that makes my phone totally voice activated – text messaging by voice is a wonderful thing! It provides a preview before you send so you can edit. Text, email, update twitter, make calls, tasks, and search the web by voice.

Ubertwitter – Simple application that lets me use twitter on the go.

Don’t Stop Believin’ PS-22 NY

I don’t know if you saw the pilot of the new show on Fox, Glee but it was pretty cool. However these kids from PS-22 in NY got em beat. Check out their version of Don’t Stop Believin. Christian Cliché and Worship Today

Do you ever get tired of Christian jargon or cliches? You know, those over used phrases we hear so often in Christian circles, here are a few of my favorites, maybe you’ve heard em (or used em!):

All truth is God’s truth – probably means hey you know, I just really don’t have time to see if the Bible says anything on the subject so let me just say it this way!
Blessings – I’m a Christian so I don’t believe in luck that means I believe in God’s luck, not good luck.
Thanks you Jesus – what we say when we find a good parking spot! You bet God cares whether or not I have to walk twenty feet or seventy five feet to the front door of the department store.
Unspoken request – that means I’m too shy or I’m too afraid to tell you what I’d like you to pray about because you might laugh at me!

What makes me even more crazy is when we actually sing cliches in Christian music. This video says it all…

When You Want People To Listen

Do you ever wonder if people are listening to you? Have you ever asked the question, “Did that just go in one ear and out the other?” Do you ever find yourself repeating the same thing over and over again because you don’t think anyone is listening? I think this flight attendant from Southwest Airlines knows exactly what I’m talking about except he got the people in the cabin to listen to a message that I know we all ignore, check this out…

Sometimes we need to change the way we communicate because what we are communicating just may save a life for eternity… hmmm are we supernatural flight attendants?
