Good question.

Recently, I became friends with a Jewish man in a town near me. We’ve conversed on-line quite a bit and we’ve met three times for a bite to eat or a beer.

His family has been going through some tough health problems over the past few months. It’s interesting with the timing of these events and the beginning of our friendship that he has asked me to pray for him and his family.

I think our friendship has provided home for this situation, but also hope for him that there are still people in this world that care.

I’ll be interested to see where this friendship goes. I believe there is HOPE for him!

Jeremiah, thanks for the feedback. I'm actually good with using the word relevance just as I did. I think technology helps us engage others in ways that they use to communicate and it opens up completely new platforms of communication that the church hasn't used in the past. However I do agree that God's truth is unchanging. If you read Laura's article she quoted me saying, “The word of God is the word of God whether it is on a digital page or a paper page. It is the same, and those words speak truth no matter what format they are written on. What it boils down to is God is bigger than a book and he is bigger than a digital book. His truth supersedes all formats."

Frank great points on being connected. Even though previous generations connected differently, this day and age the internet, facebook, etc do help people and communities stay connected even through distances so very easily. Also really liked the efficiency thoughts of how easy it is to study the Bibleas well as get thoughts from others on Bible applications.

Your third point I don’t think the word should be relevant. Certainly technology helps us to deliver the message in new or different ways but just because we have technology or videos we can still be not relevant. Relevance speaks more to being able to apply Scripture and God’s truth to this society and not the method of delivery. Relevance is how do we make Truth pertainent to society. You don’t actually need technology for that.

I totally agree!!! Great article!! I love how all this new technology has brought me closer to distant friends, relatives, etc that I would not normally have been in contact with. I am also more connected with people at HSCC because of Facebook. And that is a good thing!!
